Abuse & Neglect

Abuse is the act or actions of another person that violate your rights.

There are several types of abuse including:

  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Emotional
  • Psychological
  • Restraint or isolation
  • Legal
  • Systemic

Neglect is failure to provide the necessary care for dependent adults or children a person is responsible for. The types of neglect include:

  • Unmet physical needs
  • Emotional
  • Denying personal assistance

If you do not feel safe or feel someone is preventing you from having your basic needs met, an Advocate can assist by supporting you to speak with police or other relevant authorities. They can also connect you with services that can provide additional support.
