Announcement from PWdWA Chief Executive Officer – Brendan Cullinan

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that due to my resignation, People With disabilities WA (PWdWA) will undergo a leadership change.

The recent successful merger of individual advocacy services between PWdWA and Explorability Inc. has consolidated PWdWA’s position as WA’s leading member-led advocacy organisation and is well-positioned to meet future challenges.

It has been an honour and privilege for me to have played a leadership role in PWdWA’s journey over the past four years. During this time, the organisation has solidified and delivered on its strategies to provide quality individual and systemic advocacy, achieved significant outcomes with capacity-building projects, and implemented internal transformational change. I now feel that with PWdWA’s position of strength, it is time for a change at PWdWA to allow a new leader to work with the Board and our members to continue the strategic growth and evolution of PWdWA.

During my tenure as CEO, I have had the privilege of working with committed and dedicated Chairs and Board Directors, as well as staff who consistently go above and beyond to ensure that the voices of people with disabilities are heard and acknowledged. It has been a pleasure to engage with our wonderful members, and I thank them for their support. I am grateful for the support and guidance from representatives at the Department of Communities and Department of Social Services, and for the collaboration with my disability advocacy network colleagues.

The Board will implement a recruitment process over the coming weeks, and I will depart at this point at the end of October.
