Western Australian Sean Pollard to represent Australia at Winter Paralympics 2026

Go team: Excitement around the Winter Paralympics 2026 is building as Western Australian captain Sean Pollard prepares to represent Australia again in para-snowboarding.

Sean specializes in SB-UL snowboard cross, which is a sports classification used for sportspeople who compete with upper limb impairment.

He previously competed PyeongChang 2018 Games in South Korea, placing fifth, and won gold as a competitor in the IPC World Cup in 2019.

The former surfer lives in Bunbury with his wife Claire and daughter Mila.

Sean lost his left arm and right hand in a shark attack while surfing at Esperance in 2014.

He took up para-snowboarding in 2015.

Sean quickly adapted to the sport and often uses specialised equipment.

He was selected as captain for the Australian team and will represent the nation at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympics.

We wish Sean well!

The opening ceremony of this month’s game will take place overnight, Western Australian time, starting at 3am Saturday on Nine, with streaming coverage available on the 9Now and Stan Sport apps.
